Meet the Maker: Mishra H. Keller

I have been crocheting since I was a little girl and have come back to it off and on throughout my life. I got back into it again after sustaining an injury that not only kept me sedentary but also kept me from doing my work as a Holistic Health Coach and MELT Method Instructor. I needed something to do with my hands and to challenge my brain so I started teaching myself how to make different things.

A lot of the items I make are born out of practical, Virgo necessity. I realize a need for something and then think "Can I crochet that??" and then I figure out how. Either through video tutorials, other crochet artists' patterns, yarn company patterns or just experimenting with an idea. I started with hats and scarves and moved on to baskets and bags. Then I fell in love with making coffee cozies. I started making them because they can work up very quickly and there are an infinite number of combinations of colors, patterns and embellishments like buttons (I'm obsessed with buttons) or appliqués. My daughters loved the cozies and said I should sell them and that's how this business got started!

I have now moved on to make clothing and accessory items and I'm learning more and more about this beautiful craft. And although I'm now running a crochet business, it really is just in service of me being able to buy more yarn and make more things... And I'm selling them to people so I can pass on the joy that I feel when making them. This experience has been life changing and I'm very excited about what my future as a maker holds!
